~beep, beep, beep...~

The beat of the heart monitor....

~beep, beep, beep...~

Her head felt heavy.

~beep, beep, beep...~

Her stomach was relatively flat.

The warm tears poured down her face till she had no
more tears to cry.

Haruka rolled over in her hospital bed.
The past twelve hours of her life had been hell on
earth. In the past twelve hours, her family was dead,
she had tried to run away from the scene, she was hit
by a car, taken to the ER, screaming in pain....
and was no longer pregnant. A direct hit from a car
can sever a person...and kill an unborn child.

"Miss Ten'oh..."

She focused her blurred vision on the nurse.

"I am so sorry about your family. I just don't know
why Nesenro...and your baby...it was a girl, did you
know that?"

She stared.

"She was at an age for determinable gender, and was
starting to already have hair, sea-greenish teal..."

No.

That was not Onii's child. This was Haruka's child.
And Haruka's child was dead.

Days passed. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months.

Haruka streched out on the track at school.
She was on the track team, running, feeling free,
becoming the wind, exactly what she wanted to do her
whole life. Today, she would be racing a girl named
Elza Grey.

'Grey....my little Karuri Grey....my precious girl...'

The funerals for her family and the baby...all the
coffins, her mother, father, brothers, and a little
one the size of a bread box...this race was for them.

The gun shot, racing her mind back to that night...

And she was off.

Elza came up to Haruka after the race.
She was covered with sweat as her opponant's
voice said, "Haruka, I'd like to introduce you to
a friend of mine, Kaioh Michiru."

KAIOH.

She glanced up.

Teal hair, blue eyes...sister of Onii.

She looked like him.
But she wasn't him.
There was something about her, something about her
aura that gave her peace....

Her world had been shattered.

And this girl was holding the glue to fix it.
